I’m new, what do I need to bring to a class?
Please wear comfortable clothing to your class that allows you to move. Active wear or comfortable pants/shorts are advisable. You will need to wear GRIP socks on the Reformer to avoid slipping. You can purchase Pilates sock at reception.
Please bring a drink bottle and your own towel to the class. Machines and all equipment are wiped down after each use.
Do I need an individual assessment before I can start the classes?
ABSOLUTELY!
An initial consultation is required before you attend ANY OF THE CLASSES offered here at Radiant Pilates and Physiotherapy to assess your general level of fitness, any injuries you may have and identify which class is the right fit for you.
Pilates Floor Classes SOMETIMES MAY NOT require an initial assessment. Please see the Pilates page on our website for more information

Please leave a message if the answering machine picks up your call as we may be teaching a class or in with a client.

What are the Group Physiotherapy Exercise sessions?
How are they different from Reformer or Mat classes?
The Physiotherapy Group Exercise sessions are booked as either 1, 2 or 3 people during the session. They are highly personalised sessions, which look specifically at your body and focus on treating any condition you have. At these sessions, you will receive a physiotherapy biomechanical assessment, a prescriptive exercise program which may include Pilates based repertoire and equipment, as well as strategies to use at home to improve movement.
Reformer and Mat classes are a fabulous way to progress your rehabilitation if you are transitioning out of the physiotherapy sessions. They are taught by qualified Pilates Instructors and remain small sessions to allow for correct movement facilitation and cuing. Theses classes have some scope for personalised modifications however are largely taught as a flowing class.
Not injured? Then these classes are for you as they have more flow than physio group sessions while still focusing on correct movement patterns and technique. They will give you strength and conditioning while teaching you how to move.
Who is at risk of inappropriate Pilates exercises?
If you have had any of the following then a Physiotherapy Group Exercise class is the best starting point for you.
• Currently experiencing pelvic prolapse and after prolapse surgery; after a hysterectomy; after bladder surgery; during and after menopause; during and after pregnancy
• Increased pelvic floor muscle tension or pelvic floor muscle spasm
• People with General hyper-mobility with episodes of pain (and no prior Pilates training in a studio setting)
